What Terrain gives
- The elevation of each corner, and the lowest and highest point.
- The average slope and the steepest slope of the plot.
- The true surface area of a sloping plot, next to its map area, with the difference in percent.
- For a line, its elevation profile, the climb and the descent.
How to get it
On the map, open the tools with ⋮ and choose Terrain; on a saved measurement, tap Calculate terrain. A walk that recorded its own GPS elevation already has its profile and does not need it.
What it is, and what it is not
Terrain reads a public terrain model (AWS Terrain Tiles). Its grid is about 3 to 5 m at best, often coarser: right for the slope of a field, not for a garden or a drainage plan. It needs a connection, only when you tap, and downloads only the tiles that cover the measurement — never your position. A plot too large for the model is refused rather than guessed.
When terrain has been computed, the PDF report includes it: figures, profile and the elevation of each corner.
