Distance Measure Pro

FAQ

Questions and answers

The questions people ask before and after installing Distance Measure Pro.

Getting started

Is Distance Measure Pro free?

Yes. Every feature is free. A small banner pays for the app, and a full-screen ad may show after you save — never while you measure. One purchase removes the ads for good. There is no subscription.

Do I need an account?

No. There is no account and no sign-in. Your measurements stay on your phone.

Can I measure without going to the land?

Yes: find it with the search bar, switch to satellite view and tap its corners. See Land area calculator.

Is there an iPhone version?

No. Distance Measure Pro is an Android app. An unrelated iOS app by another developer has the same name.

Which languages?

The app speaks 43 languages and follows your phone's language; you can change it in the settings.

Measuring

How accurate is it?

On the map, as precise as the image and your taps: often a few metres. By GPS, every figure comes with its margin of error, and the measurement is rated Good, Fair or Poor. See How accurate is GPS area measurement.

Can it replace a land surveyor?

No. It is right for a garden, a field or a plot to plan, quote or compare. For a legal boundary, ask a licensed surveyor.

Can I measure by car or tractor?

Yes. Distance on foot and Area on foot work at any speed; driving around a large field gives its area.

Does it keep measuring with the screen off?

Yes. The measurement continues in your pocket, and nothing is lost if the phone closes the app: on the next opening, you can resume it.

Can I take a pond or a house off the area?

Yes: Add a hole in the map tools. Add another plot measures several fields with their total.

Does it work offline?

GPS measuring always works without a network. The map shows the areas you have viewed recently; maps cannot be downloaded in advance, as their providers forbid it.

Units and results

Can it measure in bigha, guntha, kanal or marla?

Yes, and in rai, feddan, dunam, mu, sotka, manzana, tsubo or pyeong, or in a unit you define. See Land units.

Can I open my plot in Google Earth or AutoCAD?

Yes: export it as KML or KMZ for Google Earth, DXF for CAD, Shapefile or GeoJSON for GIS, CSV for Excel, GPX for a GPS app. See Export files.

Can I get a PDF of the measurement?

Yes: an A4 report to scale with the map, sides, bearings, angles, coordinates and photos. See PDF report.

How do I keep my measurements when I change phone?

Android's backup moves them to the new phone. To be sure, make a backup file in My data and keep it.

Privacy

Does it upload my position or my measurements?

No. They stay on your phone. The network is used for map tiles, address search, terrain when you ask, and ads. See Privacy.

How do I get in touch?

Write to contact@ludiccraft.com, or use Suggest an improvement in the app's menu.
